A 25-year-old man from Sultan died early Saturday morning after being stunned with a Taser during a scuffle with Snohomish County sheriff deputies.
Two deputies responded at about 1:30 a.m. to 911 calls reporting that a man was running and yelling through residential streets in Gold Bar, east of Monroe on Highway 2, according to Sgt. Robert Goetz with the Snohomish County sheriffs Office.
When the deputies arrived, the man charged them and began wrestling with them, Goetz said. One of the deputies pulled out his Taser and shocked the man, who stopped breathing. The deputies started CPR, but the man was pronounced dead after being taken to Valley General Hospital in Monroe.
Goetz said that investigators were talking with people that knew the man, to determine why the man was agitated. His name will be released after an autopsy and toxicology tests by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner.
