One climber has died on Mount Rainier and the national park says two others are awaiting rescue at Camp Muir.
Ranger Sandi Kinzer at Longmire says a helicopter is waiting for a snow storm to clear to land at Camp Muir, which is at about 10,000 feet elevation. Kinzer says one of the survivors has frostbite and can't walk out from the shelter.
Kinzer says the three went on a day hike Monday to Camp Muir when they were caught in a blizzard on the Muir snowfield.
Looks like three people involved at Camp Muir, one place I have hiked to many times.
I like mountains but they can be dangerous, especially in a blizzard. Where I live -Florida- we get snow-a few flakes- maybe once in ten years and the highest point in Florida is 440 feet.
Hah...I lived in Tampa when we got snow and the town went crazy. Luckily they just got the last two climbers off the mountain here.
I saw snow here just once, about two minutes of light flurries, all melted on hitting the ground.
I'm glad the climbers are safe.
Thats about how long it lasted, people put it in the freezer to save.
With no danger of a blizzard I may go climb Florida's highest mountain soon
